About Me

Artist Statement

My work is created with salt, alcohol, watercolor paint on large paper. I identify my artwork as a world where I am able to transform everything I see with a personal perspective.

These works have developed from a personal touch fragmented images that have to do with my feelings and thoughts through my experience in art. I have been working with photos, manipulating the image depending of what I want to see. Also while time has passed by, most of my artwork has to do with everyday life events. I like to capture specific moments that to me can be unique and unforgettable. My artwork is a combination of nature and the human figure. Using water based media; I create a visual interpretation based on my reflections of nature. Some of my paintings have transformed the human figure from its actual form and color to a more abstract and multifaceted figure, while others have keep more of their realistic form. There are two reasons for the distortion of the body. Which are universal and personal, related to the viewer experience and it gives that sense of lonely moments of personal reflections.

Artist's Biography

Elizabeth M. Luna is from southwest Texas currently living with her husband and children in Austin. She graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts and Masters of Arts degree from Sul Ross State University with a specialization in watercolor.

At an early age, Elizabeth loved to create and explore with different mediums. Most of these mediums were more household products than art supplies. Throughout her formative years, art always fascinated her. She would often draw as she gained more resources and as her creativity increased. Leading up to college, she began to better understand what art meant to her which allowed her to perceive her surrounding with an artistic eye and capture the beauty it holds. When she began her college, she felt a rush of possibilities as her knowledge of art increased. She was deeply inspired and began to feel the need to endlessly create works of art.

After completing her master’s degree, Elizabeth took some time away from art to raise her beautiful children. Now that her kiddos are becoming more independent she has started to slowly pick up her passion. Even when she is not creating art, the urge and desire is always persistent. Elizabeth loves to paint flowers, human figures and now she is developing a new project capturing her dreams into art. She likes to catch particular moments of time in her work.

Her paintings have been described as photo realistic with a feminine touch. Vibrant images and color that represent a distinctive beauty at all times, even when the image depicts a sad moment.

Elizabeth’s paintings and commissioned portraits can be found in homes and businesses in the United States and Mexico.
